Zakarpattia covers a large area that includes both foothills and fertile plains. Many outside cultures have influenced this region including Hungarian and Czechoslovakian cultures. Many people remark on its' similarities to Polish folk dress.
Zorya's Zakarpattia costumes represent those worn in the central region of Zakarpattia's Oblast (province). The women's skirts are very full while the men's pants are narrow. There is a lot of lace and floral detail in these pieces as well.
Choreography is rhythmical and incorporates clapping and twisting motions. Dances include Bereznyanka, Dubotanets and Uzhansky.
